Rooted in Family, Fired by Flavor

Every plate tells the story of tradition, made fresh every day with real ingredients and a whole lot of heart.

Meet Bryan: Hustle, Heart, and a Bigger Mission

I’m Bryan Gonzalez — founder, head chef, and the heart behind Tacos Don Chaí. Every morning starts early, prepping ingredients and making sure everything’s right before we open the doors. I’m not just here to run a kitchen — I’m here to build something that lasts. This business is about family, culture, and creating a space that lifts people up, one plate at a time. I want every guest to feel the care that goes into what we do.
Backyard Beginnings with a Big Dream

Backyard Beginnings with a Big Dream

In 2020, I lost my job and wasn’t sure what came next. I started cooking from my backyard in Antioch, just trying to get by. The only thing I knew for sure was that food had always brought my family together. So I leaned into that — into what felt real. That’s when Tacos Don Chaí was born, right there in my backyard, during one of the hardest times we’d ever seen.

My grandfather, Isaias “Don Chaí” Guzman, was the reason I believed in hard work and good food. I named the business after him because I wanted to carry his name with me, always. Every taco we serve reflects the values he taught us — keep it honest, take care of your people, and never cut corners. This place is more than mine — it’s his legacy, too.
Big Flavors, Bigger Impact

Big Flavors, Bigger Impact

At our spot on Howe Road, every dish has a story. We slow-cook our brisket, prep our pineapple salsa fresh, and serve with pride. In 2024, the Destination Channel shared our journey, and foodies across the Bay came to see what we’re about — including @GRUBWITMIKE, who showed love for our birria. But the best part is still hearing that our food feels like home. That’s what we’re here for: real food, real care, and a space that feels like yours.

Rooted in Real Work, Built for Community

Most days start before the sun’s up — cooking, greeting guests, and making sure everything feels right. This spot isn’t just about food. It’s about people. We’ve hosted block parties, teamed up with local businesses, and stayed true to our roots. Being nominated in Martinez felt good, but what matters more is who walks through our doors. Tacos Don Chaí is here to last — for my family, my team, and the community that raised us.
